You can do hard things!!
If Christianity was something we were making up, of course we could make it easier. But it is not.
You are not among the weak or faint of heart. Fasting is no joke! In fact the Lord knew ,and even experienced for himself, that everything about this life would be challenging. You may be among those who have had to stand up for what you believe in in your school or at your job. You might even relate to those who have chose to serve the Lord when those closest to you chose not to. That’s hard!! When it comes to prayer and fasting there is a whole new set of challenges involved. Let’s face it, telling yourself NO is very unpopular these days. The Bible even tells us about the challenges of this Christian life in 2 Peter 1:10 the apostle writes “work hard to prove you really are among those God has called and chosen….”. We are not the first set of Christians to feel the immense responsibility of this command and we certainly will not be the last.
But let me share something amazing with you about our Father God. He never gives us a command without first equipping us to do it!! Check this out in Matthew 11:29-30, Jesus says, 29″Take my yoke and put it on you, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit; and you will find rest.” 30 “for my yoke is easy and my burden is light”. Very clearly Jesus has come along side of you to help you “work hard”. These are not contradictory verses but rather a command and then the equipping to do that command. Keep going strong in this time of prayer and fasting. Trust that Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit has taken up the position beside you, helping you to prove to yourself and everyone around you that “you really are among those God has called and chosen…” The rest of this verse says “do these things and you will never fall away.” I encourage you to take a few minutes today to read the first chapter of 2 Peter with that understanding, there is nothing this life has to offer that you cannot handle! God Bless you!!
Enjoy this time❤️
