Exchange - June 3rd, 2012
Good to be back with you this week. We are talking about MAKING AN EXCHANGE, or in other words, “TRADING UP FOR SOMETHING BETTER.” We want to continue this week discussing the importance of the Word of God in helping us make this exchange. The moment you begin to read the Word of God an EXCHANGE begins to take place. Psalm 119:130 [KJV] says, “The entrance of Thy Words [the Word of God] giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.”
Let’s take a look at the Hebrew definitions of a few of the words and phrases in Psalm 119:130 [KJV] to get a better understanding of what the Psalmist David is trying to get across to us. The first phrase we want to define is, “The entrance of.” This phrase has the meaning of, “to open wide or to draw out.” Our next phrase is, “Thy Words,” which is referencing the Word of God. The final phrase we want to define this week is, “giveth light,” which means to make luminous, to set on fire, to shine. Ultimately, what is being said is when I choose to open up a Bible and read it AN EXCHANGE begins to take place. Reading the Word of God is like walking into a room that is pitch black and you turn a light on. Immediately the darkness disappears and what you couldn’t see before is now visible by light. In other words, any darkness, bad circumstances, or lack of direction immediately begins to be expelled or removed from your life. Psalm 119:105 says, “The Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” We all could use a little extra light in our life, right? Well, start today. Go get yourself a Bible and start reading.
Suggested reading for this week to light up your life…. Corinthians 13:4-8 in an Amplified Translation. And as always, make sure to, “Enjoy Another Carolina Day.”
