Exchange - July 1st, 2012

It is good to be back with you this week. We have been talking about MAKING AN EXCHANGE, or in other words, “trading up for something better.” Our focus has been on how the Word of God helps us make this exchange. We said to you last week, for this EXCHANGE to be complete we have to not only be a hearer of the Word but we have to be a doer of it as well. And the cool thing about it is God will bless you when you do. If you get a chance, go read a scripture we quoted to you last week, James 1:21-25 [New Living Translation]. I’m sure it will open up your eyes to the importance of you and me being doers of the Word of God.

In Matthew chapters 5, 6, and 7, we see what many know as the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus had called his disciples to come alongside him on a mountain and there he began teaching them how to be true Disciples. He ended in Matthew 7:24-27 [KJV] with these words: “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.” See what he said in that last verse? If I don’t allow the Word of God to become a final authority in every area of my life by being a doer of it, He said great will be the fall of it. But listen to me. You can do this. Ultimately it comes down to choice.

We’ll continue to talk more about this in the upcoming weeks, but for now, go to I Corinthians 13:4-8 in an Amplified Translation and begin reading on the subject of the “God kind of Love.” And as always, make sure to, “Enjoy Another Carolina Day.”
