Exchange - July 22nd, 2012

I have been looking forward to this week as we begin our study of Proverbs 4:1-27 [The New Living Translation.] Of course you know that there is no way we could look at every verse in detail. We could spend the rest of the year doing so. I do encourage you to take the time to read Proverbs 4 on your own. So let’s begin. We are talking about MAKING AN EXCHANGE, or in other words, “TRADING UP FOR SOMETHING BETTER.” We said for this EXCHANGE to be complete we have to not only be a hearer of the Word but we have to be a Doer of it as well. And the cool thing about it is God will bless you when you do.

In our Proverbs 4:1-4 [NLT] we see Solomon begin to have a heart to heart with His children. One of the first things he says to them is pay attention and learn good judgment. Don’t turn away from my instructions. Take my words to heart. Follow my commands, and you will live. In other words listen up kids and do as I say because I have learned from experience the results if you do. When we look at the Word as if it is our Father God talking to us, it brings a whole new meaning to its importance. There is no one who has your best interest at heart as much as the Father God. There is no one who has more wisdom on the steps we are to take in life to be a success. Solomon encourages his children to get Wisdom because it is the wisest thing you can do. Proverbs 33:4 [NLT] says, “For the word of the Lord holds true, and we can trust everything He does.” Guys, trust me, you can’t go wrong trusting God’s Word and being a doer of it. You can’t go wrong getting the Wisdom of God in any circumstance or situation in life. There is not greater Wisdom.

Join us next week as we continue with our study of Proverbs 4 and as always make sure to, “Enjoy Another Carolina Day.”
