Day 17: DECLARE WHO WE ARE
Father God, we come to you today with 5 days left in our 21-day journey, asking you to reveal who we are in You. Over the past two weeks we have continually sought Your face, and a more powerful revelation of who You are. We now seek to know You through Your revelation of who we are as Your created children. Your Word says that You created us in Your image, after Your likeness (Genesis 1:26). Please reveal to us Father what that means. What characteristics of Your image and Your likeness, do we have? Your Word also says, “God saw all that he had made, and it was very good” (vs 31). Please help us Father to see ourselves as You see us. Please teach us Father, who we are in You, so that we can boldly declare who we are and stand firm in our identity as Your children, Jesus’ disciples, and friends of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus our Savior, thank you for leaving your home in heaven to walk here on earth among us, to not only pay the price for our sins, but also to reveal God the Father’s great love for us. Please teach us today as you did for those you humanly encountered, what our God-given identity is. Help us to internalize the words of scripture, “but you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession” (1 Peter 2:9). Help us to be reminded daily that we are greatly loved, adopted sons and daughters of the Most Holy God, through You, because the Father “chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him” (Ephesians 1:4-5). Please solidify in our souls and spirits our origin, meaning, morality and purpose: “we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10). Jesus our teacher, please remind us daily that we were able to choose you because the Father first chose us: “no one can come to Me unless the Father wo sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day” (John 6:44).
Holy Spirit, please help us to reject the lies of the enemy. When he condemns us as hated, help us to counter knowing that we are “brethren beloved by the Lord” (2 Thessalonians 2:13). When the enemy says we are not worthy, help us to counter knowing “God has chosen us from the beginning for salvation” (vs 13). When the enemy tells us, we are alone in our sin and shame, help us to counter knowing that we have been sanctified “by the Spirit and faith in the truth” (vs 13). Holy Spirit, please continue to weave in our hearts the truth of who we are in Christ, beloved by the Father, and led by You. Please help us to share this truth readily with all people that have been called by the Father. We offer up all of these requests through the precious name of Jesus. Amen.
