Awakening a Passion for God
Jesus, Christ of God, we come to You today in worship and praise acknowledging and thanking You for all that You are:
Author and Finisher of our Faith - thank You for enduring the cross, despising the shame, to sit down at the right hand of the throne of God in joy. (Hebrews 12:2)
Beloved Son - thank You for willingly serving the will of the Father, His beloved, chosen, with the Spirit put upon You. (Matthew 12:18)
Bread of Life - Thank You for giving us eternal life with nourishment from heaven given by the Father. (John 6:32)
Counsellor- Thank You for becoming one of us, a child born, a son given, being called Wonderful, Counsellor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)
Light of the World - Thank You for being the Light of Life, so that as we follow You we do not have to walk in darkness. (John 8:12)
First and Last - Thank You Jesus for being with all of humankind from the beginning to the very end, encouraging us not to fear because You have been through it all and are with us the entire way. (Revelation 1:17)
Jesus, please bring to our minds the things that we are passionate about, drawing memories of strong emotions, physical expressions of excitement, hours spent preparing to be a part of that which we are passionate about. As we contemplate these memories, please help us to understand why we are passionate about those things. How we first began an interest in them. How we have invested time, energy and money over the years to pursue them. What do these things give us or make us feel to create such a passion inside of us?
Jesus, please help us compare that answer to what You have given us. Because there is no greater gift than a salvation we don’t deserve, a peace beyond all understanding, a relationship with You, Creator of the Universe, Savior of the World, the Great I AM. Thank You Jesus for creating a world in which we can experience the many blessings and gifts You have given to us. For allowing us to experience on earth a fraction of the joy, happiness, excitement and multitude of bliss that is waiting for us in our true home, heaven. Please work in us today Jesus an even greater passion for You, for the Father, and for the Holy Spirit. We truly love You so much. We pray these things in Your name, the name above all other names. Amen.
