Day 14: RELY ON THE HOLY SPIRIT

Holy Father, we worship you, we glorify you and we thank you. Thank you for guiding us over the past 13 days, allowing us to approach you in prayer and to receive your great love and feel your presence. Thank you for giving us Your own Spirit, who knows Your thoughts, so we can know the wonderful things you have freely given us (1 Corinthians 2:11-12). Thank you for allowing our bodies to be temples of God, that the Spirit dwells in (1 Corinthians 3:16). As we continue to walk through this time of prayer and fasting, please help us Father to lean into you more, to seek Jesus in the Word more, and to rely on the Holy Spirit more in our every day lives.

Precious Jesus, so many of your followers hoped that you would be an earthly king, saving them from the problems they faced in daily life. However, your response to them prior to your Ascension was as timely for them as it is for us: “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere […] to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:6-8). Lord, as we walk through the challenges of 2021 please help us to stay focused on YOUR will. Please help us to see our world and our circumstances from YOUR point of view. Please help us to NOT lean into our own understanding, but to receive YOUR wisdom and YOUR understanding through the power of the Holy Spirit, so that we can trust you, acknowledge you, and have our paths directed by you (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Holy Spirit, thank you for dwelling within us, for serving as a constant source of guidance, wisdom, conviction, comfort, and power. We come to you humbly asking that you strengthen us and embolden us to walk bravely through all situations that arise in 2021 with iron faith and unwavering trust, because Jesus has already overcome the world (John 16:33). Please emblazon on our hearts and minds that we can remain in peace and overcome ANY challenge, tragedy, or suffering that may occur now or in the future. As citizens of heaven, help us keep our eyes on eternity, seeing all difficulty in this life as short-term, while knowing that walking in love and righteousness and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ is long-term. Please help us precious Spirit to not worry about ANYTHING, but to pray about EVERYTHING (Philippians 4:6-7); seeking your promises in the Word to support our prayers and build our faith. We offer up all of these requests in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.
