Day 2 - RESIST TEMPTATION
God has empowered us to stand strong and be courageous, even when we go through difficult circumstances. We must stand firm and not concede any ground that God has given to us and move forward in His plans and purposes!
Father, we come to you today with humble hearts and spirits, knowing that you see all, hear all and know all. Forgive us for our weakness in sin and for trying to hide our sin and our temptations from You, from ourselves and from those who love us. Please help us to bring into light that which we would prefer to keep in darkness. Holy Father, we ask that you humble us, remove pride from our hearts and guide us to come to you in times of testing for strength in resisting temptation. Father, thank you for your faithfulness. Thank you for protecting us from being tested beyond our strength and thank you for always providing a way out so that we are able to endure it.
Jesus our Savior, you proclaimed to be the Way, the Truth, and the Life. You faced great temptation while on earth, yet never succumbed, and are fully able to come to the aid of those who are tempted (Hebrews 2:18). While walking on earth You provided great light, love, and forgiveness to all those who encountered You. You healed them physically and spiritually by speaking to them with both grace and truth, pulling their secret shame out of the darkness so that they could walk in the light. We ask Jesus for this same blessing in our lives today. Help us to identify our greatest temptations and to be honest about them with You, ourselves, and those closest to us, so that our network of support is strong, and our exit strategies are plentiful. Please help us to commit every morning to abiding in You, so that we can draw from Your strength, pull deeply from Your root system of Holy nourishment, and remain in the warmth and truth of Your light.
Holy Spirit, we are so thankful for Your role in our lives. Thank you for dwelling in the temple of our bodies, guiding us, comforting us, and convicting us when we stray from the Lord’s path. Please help us to quickly confess our weaknesses to You and help us to resist temptation. Please take us by the hand and gently lead us to be honest with the loving authority figures You have placed in our lives to keep us accountable. Help us Holy Spirit to draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16). We offer up all of these requests in the precious name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
