Day 20: Press On

Father God, we come to you in prayer today asking for your help to press on. As we complete this time of prayer and fasting, please help us to resist the lies of the devil by clinging to Your promises in the Word. Your Word tells us Father that You “will forgive our wickedness and will remember our sins no more” (Hebrews 8:12). “As far as the east is from the west, so far have You removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:12). Please help us Father to cast our burdens on you, so that you can sustain us and never permit your righteous children to be moved (Psalm 33:22). Remind us daily Father, that because we are in Christ, we are new creatures, the old things passed away; with new things to come (2 Corinthians 5:17). Please help us Father to not only forget the sins of our personal past, but also to resist desiring the “normal” of past days. When we are tempted, like the Israelites, to desire former circumstances that we deem “better” only because they were familiar, please remind us that we are on YOUR path to the promised land. Please help us to “remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old” (Isaiah 43:18). “To say not, why were the former days better than these? For it is not from wisdom that we ask this” (Ecclesiastes 7:10). Please help us Father to embrace our new reality each day as it continues to change, walking in Your will.

Jesus our Savior, we come to you with open hearts and minds requesting that you supernaturally help us to look forward. Please help us Jesus to keep our eyes trained on You and your will. Please give us strength and courage to not only look forward but to continue to move forward, in times of dread, in times when we fear the unknown, and in anticipatory times. Help us to draw courage from your actions, Jesus, walking every day towards the cross and never wavering or looking back despite knowing ALL of the suffering that lay ahead for You. Please help us to press on, to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us (Philippians 3:14).

Holy Spirit, our Great Helper and Comforter, please help us to press on in all seasons of our life. Help us to continue to place one foot in front of the other regardless of circumstances. When we walk through challenges, please pull us along beside you. When we revel in the joyous times of life, please give us a gentle push to move when it is time, protecting us from the temptation to become idle and stagnant. Please guide us Holy Spirit to only stop when we “have fought the good fight, finished the course, and kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7). Please spur us on until we hear our Father say, “well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:21). We make all of these requests in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.
